Alma’s Market Bio:
Founder, Shaina McCoy named the market after her grandmother’s initials, she is the sole reason for starting this market. Her grandma Anita’s father, her “Ba,” was a Black man from the Southside of Minneapolis; her mother, Shaina’s great grandma, was a Mexican adoptee. This is who we represent. We are their legacy.
At Alma’s Market, we look to provide you with memories of Grandma’s home and more. We also aim to sell ethically and sustainably made products designed by our founder, Shaina McCoy, along with other Black & Brown businesses, who will offer services and goods at our pop-up events.
There are so many things that make us feel like “home,” especially grandma’s house. Anita is a woman who carries wisdom on her shoulders, a green thumb like no other, a heart of gold, recipes that make you feel fuzzy, and a shining smile with eyes you won’t forget. And that is the essence of Alma’s.
While we currently exist as an online space, we have hopes & dreams of having our own brick & mortar location in the future. A place where you can find everything from home items, apparel, self-care, health products, literature, vintage decor, and food & drinks. This is our seed. And as we continue to nurture this venture with love and care, we invite you to come along for the journey and celebrate growth together.
